Craig Kizer Obituary: Pedestrian, 65, struck, killed in North Barrington identified

Craig Kizer Obituary – Lake County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigators are currently conducting an ongoing investigation into a tragic collision between a car and a pedestrian in North Barrington. At approximately 6:55 p.m. on February 27, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies promptly responded to the scene at Route 22 and Rainbow Road in North Barrington. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the lifeless body of a North Barrington resident in the nearby ditch.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it has been determined that a 2013 Ford Explorer, driven by a 47-year-old man from Geneva, was traveling eastbound on Route 22 near Rainbow Road. While proceeding in that direction, the driver collided with the pedestrian who was walking along the south shoulder of the road. It is worth noting that the pedestrian was wearing dark-colored clothing, and this particular section of Route 22 lacks proper lighting.

Fortunately, the driver of the Ford remained unharmed and immediately contacted emergency services following the incident. Furthermore, the driver has been fully cooperative with the ongoing investigation, as confirmed by the authorities.

The deceased individual has been identified as Craig Kizer, a 65-year-old resident of North Barrington. On February 28, an autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office, revealing that Kizer’s cause of death was attributed to blunt force injuries sustained during the incident.

The investigation into this tragic crash is still ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
