Anthony Autry Obituary: Pedestrian fatally struck in Potter County early Wednesday, says DPS

Anthony Autry Obituary – Early Wednesday morning in Potter County, a tragic incident occurred when a pedestrian walking on the roadway was hit and fatally injured. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that at around 5:58 a.m. on April 24th, a 2007 Ford F250 was traveling east on the north service road of Interstate 40, approximately 8.77 miles west of Amarillo.

According to the DPS, the pedestrian, identified as Anthony Autry, a 34-year-old resident of Atlanta, Georgia, was wearing dark clothing and walking in the same direction as the vehicle in the eastbound lane of the north service road. Unfortunately, the driver of the Ford did not notice Autry in his lane until it was too late, resulting in a collision. The incident took place in darkness, further hindering visibility.

Tragically, Autry was pronounced dead at the scene by Potter County Justice of the Peace Robert Taylor. It is important to note that the posted speed limit was 55 mph, and the road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the accident.
