Nevaeh Mitchell Obituary – A Dunlap High School senior lost her life in a tragic accident on Saturday night near the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in northwest Peoria. Nevaeh Mitchell, 18, from Princeville, was fatally injured in a head-on collision on North Orange Prairie Road. The incident occurred at 12:27 a.m. on Sunday, and Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Peoria County Coroner’s Office reported that Mitchell’s vehicle was traveling north when it collided with another vehicle heading south in the northbound lanes. Law enforcement responded to the scene at 11:39 p.m., and despite efforts from the Peoria police, fire departments, and emergency medical services, Mitchell could not be saved.
The Peoria Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
