Maria Damata Obituary – State authorities reported that a rollover accident in Willington over the weekend resulted in the tragic death of a student at Central Connecticut State University. The incident occurred when a 21-year-old man from Bethel lost control of his vehicle while driving southbound on River Road around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday night, causing the vehicle to roll over.
One of the passengers in the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Maria Damata from Bethel, sustained life-threatening injuries and unfortunately passed away as a result of the crash. CCSU confirmed that Damata was a student at the university pursuing a degree in marketing within the School of Business.
The driver and three other passengers were transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The driver, a 19-year-old male passenger, a 20-year-old female passenger, and a 21-year-old male passenger, all from Bethel, suffered minor injuries in the accident.
