Lisandro Santos Obituary – A Porterville family is currently grieving the loss of their loved one, who tragically lost his life in a collision caused by a suspected DUI driver. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning around 3 a.m. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Lisandro Santos.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), they received a report about a driver traveling in the wrong direction on the southbound lanes of Highway 99, near Betty Drive in Goshen. Despite the CHP’s prompt response, they were unable to prevent the crash.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered that Lisandro’s 2022 Honda Civic had collided head-on with a 2015 Dodge Charger driven by 20-year-old Saul Saldana Armenta. Lisandro was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
CHP officers have determined that Armenta was driving under the influence and traveling in the wrong direction on the freeway when the collision occurred. Armenta himself sustained major injuries and was also taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
Lisandro’s father, Benigno, expressed his disbelief and sorrow, stating that the family never anticipated that they would never see their son again. Lisandro was on his way to work when the accident happened, preventing him from ever returning home.
“I wish he was still here. God took him away. I don’t understand or what happened. I just still can’t believe it,” Benigno said. “He was my everything, my happiness, my strength.”
Lisandro’s fiancée, Estefani, was too devastated to appear on camera after losing the love of her life. The entire Santos family is deeply hurt by the news of Lisandro’s passing. “It’s just not fair,” Estefani tearfully expressed. “I love him so much and I miss him.”
Lisandro would have celebrated his 22nd birthday on May 3rd, but instead of planning a joyous occasion, his family is now making arrangements for his funeral and burial services. To assist the Santos family in laying their son to rest, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been established.
