Kelvin Gerard Jackson Obituary – The incident unfolded in Rome on February 23, when an armed robbery occurred at the Hi-Tech convenience store, resulting in a fatal shooting by a police officer. Preliminary information indicates that a person entered the store at approximately 11:10 a.m., armed with a gun, and demanded money from a store clerk. The suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Kelvin Gerard Jackson from Augusta, was met by Rome Police Department officers as he attempted to escape.

The pursuit concluded on McGhee Street, where Jackson was fatally shot by an officer. A firearm was discovered near Jackson’s body, which will undergo an autopsy at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur. Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries during the incident.
