Chang Ching Yang Obituary: Hickory, 31-year-old Pedestrian Struck And Killed Sunday Morning Identified By Authorities

Chang Ching Yang Obituary, Death – The pedestrian who tragically lost their life in a crash in Burke County on the early morning of March 10 has been identified by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The deceased individual has been named as Chang Ching Yang, a 31-year-old resident of Hickory.

The incident occurred around midnight on George Hildebran School Road near Wilkies Grove Church Road. A Jeep Grand Cherokee, traveling in the eastbound direction on George Hildebran Road, collided with a pedestrian who was walking in the same direction. The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and the road was not well-lit.

Initially, the identity of the deceased was unknown, and the Highway Patrol sought the public’s help in identifying the individual, as previously reported on WHKY.

The driver of the Grand Cherokee, a man from Connelly Springs, did not sustain any injuries. The preliminary investigation does not suggest that impairment or excessive speed played a role in the collision. The roadway was closed for approximately three hours during the on-scene investigation. No charges will be filed against the driver in this case.
