Uyel R. Martin, Dovie A. Martin Obituary – Two individuals lost their lives in a rear-end collision on Saturday morning in Pratt County, located in southwest Kansas, as confirmed by authorities. The incident occurred at 11:12 a.m. on Saturday on the eastbound K-42 highway, approximately 2 miles east of the US-281 highway. The specific location was identified as being 2 miles east of Sawyer.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2012 Honda CR-V was traveling east on the K-42 highway when it collided with the rear of a 1978 Ford pickup truck that had come to a stop in the eastbound lane.
Tragically, both the driver and passenger in the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims have been identified as Uyel R. Martin, 90, and Dovie A. Martin, 84, both residents of Isabel.
Fortunately, the driver of the pickup truck, Myburgh Hanekom, 31, from Sawyer, reported no injuries. The Kansas Highway Patrol’s online crash log indicated that Hanekom was outside the truck and in the ditch at the time of the collision. The patrol also mentioned that both occupants of the Honda were wearing their seat belts.
