Ronald Sinclair Death: Shooting victim in New Bedford dies, murder charges upgraded.

Ronald Sinclair Death – The individual who was shot in the West End of New Bedford last week has unfortunately passed away, leading to the alleged shooter being charged with murder. As per the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Ronald Sinclair, a 60-year-old resident of New Bedford, succumbed to his injuries on May 3, five days after the shooting incident on April 29.

Upon receiving a report of a male gunshot victim in the vicinity of Austin Street near County Street at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers promptly arrived at the scene. They discovered Sinclair and swiftly transported him to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Tragically, he did not survive.

Christopher Smith, a 38-year-old resident of New Bedford, was apprehended shortly after the shooting while attempting to flee on foot. He was found in a backyard on Chestnut Street, and a firearm was recovered by the police.

Initially, Smith faced charges of assault with intent to murder by discharge of a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.

Tomorrow morning, Smith will be arraigned in New Bedford District Court on the new charge of murder. It is worth noting that Smith has a lengthy criminal record with convictions for various offenses, according to law enforcement.

In 2016, he received a prison sentence of four to six years for charges including kidnapping, breaking and entering, and strangulation.
