Mahki Brown Obituary – The identity of the teenager who was fatally shot outside a luxurious Soho hotel in broad daylight by a gunman riding a Citi Bike has now been revealed. The victim, Mahki Brown, 16, was shot in the head across from the Dominick Hotel on Spring Street shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the police.
Brown, a resident of Crown Heights, Brooklyn, was immediately taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Law enforcement sources suggest that the shooting, which took place near Chelsea Career and Technical Education High School, may have been related to a school matter. Sources also indicate that Brown, who was a student at Broome Street Academy Charter High School nearby, was struck by two bullets in the leg.
While it remains unclear if Brown was the intended target, sources suggest that the gunfire may have erupted following a dispute between two groups of girls earlier that day. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Witnesses at the scene described the aftermath of the shooting as shocking and disturbing, with Brown collapsing in an alley next to the Dominick Hotel.
One witness, a security guard named Justo Cruz, expressed his horror at the sight, stating that Brown appeared unconscious and covered in blood. Another witness, a nearby parking attendant, recounted how he sought shelter upon hearing the gunshots, as the source of the sound was unknown and people were running in panic.
