Laura Rudow Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the Elburn woman who tragically lost her life in a fiery wrong-way crash on Interstate 88 in Maple Park. Laura Rudow, 52, was involved in a collision between a car and a pickup truck near mile marker 102 early Monday morning.
Both vehicles were engulfed in flames, resulting in the driver of the wrong-way vehicle being pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The cause of Rudow’s death is still under investigation, and autopsy results and a toxicology report are pending.
The crash led to the closure of all eastbound lanes on I-88 for approximately five hours, with traffic being redirected to Peace Road. While heavy fog was reported in the area at the time of the incident, authorities have not confirmed whether it played a role in the crash.
