Kulwinder Sohi Obituary – Surrey resident Kulwinder Sohi, aged 27, tragically lost his life after being stabbed on the White Rock waterfront on Tuesday night. In response to this incident, the White Rock Police Department has announced an increase in patrols along the waterfront area. This comes just two days after another stabbing occurred in the same vicinity, leaving a man injured while sitting on a bench. The victim of the fatal stabbing has been identified as Kulwinder Sohi by his family members.
The White Rock RCMP received a report of a man with stab wounds in the 15400 block of Marine Drive, near the White Rock Pier, at approximately 9:30 p.m. PT. Despite the prompt arrival of officers, the suspect could not be located. Gagan Singh, a friend and former roommate of Sohi, expressed shock and disbelief at the tragic loss of his friend. Singh described Sohi as a personable, socially active, and easygoing individual who never engaged in arguments. Sohi, a plumber who recently obtained his Red Seal certification, was known for his talent and skills.
Singh also expressed concerns for the safety of himself and others in the Lower Mainland following Sohi’s death. The police are currently investigating any potential links between this homicide and the previous incident on Sunday evening. The stabbings have deeply shaken the community, with White Rock Mayor Megan Knight expressing her shock and a commitment to providing assistance to those affected.
